Very helpful info.

I think it would be well worth factoring in 29er's as well. A 29er hardtail will outperform a 26" wheel in rocky areas. To the degree it outperforms it, or gets closer to agility of a dually is track dependent, but it's an important consideration.

Still debating which is the right choice. I want that full suspension feel, but prefer to be able to climb well and fast...

I like the comparison of rally car (Hardtail) to off-roader (full sus).
It describes the characteristics of both types down to a T.
Personally I've always had fully suspension bikes. I prefer the comfort, and knowing that I can go pretty much anywhere. I think they look cooler too.
Besides, I don't race. So where's the harm in a little loss of efficiency? ;)
