Sherman Branch, Section Two

With the Ninja Rabbits, Snake, Roller Coster and the climb out of section one behind you, you’ll find the Farm Silo is a good place to hang out and take a break while you wait for your buddies to catch up. Section two begins at the intersection of the Farm Silo, the same silo you passed while riding section one. So be warned the Ninja Rabbits are on the loose and they’ll out to get you.

Rolling up a slight grade between the woods and an over grown field, you’ll eventually find yourself back into single track that winds through and then begins to descend again into three log jumps that are spaced perfectly apart to catch a little air time, the last being the best to lob off of. Bank back to the left and hammer your way up a short easy climb into a left turning berm. Once you’ve cleared the berm, there’s some nice straight-aways to pick up some momentum just before you enter into a tight right banking berm that will sling-shot you into a short straight and back into a left banking turn. Then there’s a nice straight away with a log jump, then you enter another right banking berm that is fun to ride high and rail out of, back into another left banking turn and right back into another right banking berm.

Now it’s time to accelerate even more as you continue in a slow right banking turn and into a small gully where you can pick up some nice momentum just before a gradual climb.

Once you’ve reached the top of the gradual climb, you’ll find yourself rolling along parallel to the sloping terrain and eventually into a small climb that sets you up for a small rock jump and into a short speedy descent into a right banking turn.

The trail winds alone, with a tiny log jump and then you enter into a small gully, around a couple of turns and across a wooden bridge. Next is a short climb that has a hairpin turn just as you enter it and leads up close to the highest point of section two. This area is a mixture of straight-aways, twisting turns, shallow depressions, slightly loose corners and Rabid Squirrels.

Yes the Rabid Squirrels are in league with the Ninja Rabbits and their out for blood! I wouldn’t normally take the time to mention rabbits or squirrels, but their everywhere and they always seem to be in your face daring you, coming at you, jumping towards you. The Squirrels here are simply crazy!

Back to the ride.

The upper part of section two is a lot of fun, it’s a good place to build momentum, hammer and rail through turns and straight-aways.There’s a few berms that you can feel your bike compress as you rail through them and shoot back out of into fast twisty single track and eventually you’ll begin a short gradual climb that leads to and crosses the trail maintenance road.

You’ve just finished “Section Two” of “Sherman Branch”.

There’s much more to this trail, so check back soon for details on riding “Section Three” of “Sherman Branch”.

Cool videos! Those trails look like the are hard packed and fast. I think it is so cool that you are able to film your epic rides. By chance, have you recorded a fall yet? I’d be interested to see what a recorded fall looks like. They always happen so fast!

Yes, the Sherman Branch trails are hard packed, fast flowing trails… really a lot of fun to ride! I held off getting a helmet cam for the longest time, couldn’t see dropping cash on one when I could buy a wheelset or something else for the same amount. But now that I have it I wish I would have gotten one years ago. But I’m capturing a lot of video now and it’s nice to review my ride and sections of the trail.

I’ve had one wreck so far with the cam on. The impact hurt really bad and later that day I found out I had gotten a concussion. The wreck was at a trail called Anne Springs located in Fort Mill, SC.

Here’s a link to watch the wreck:
