Hopefully you read our first post and watched the video on how TAG Wheels are indestructible. Aside from being heavier (between 1075g - 1271g per wheel depending on model) than traditional wheelsets, we love these wheels for downhill and freestyle riding.
TAG Wheels located in Newport Beach, California is a U.S. manufacturer of composite bicycle wheels and will be expanding its product line to offer cross country, all mountain, and BMX wheels scheduled for release early December.
The new TR3 models use the same advanced technology as the FRX5 wheels, yet are lighter in weight, but still just as strong.
TR3 WHEEL FEATURES
- The shock absorbing hollow formed composite wheel is designed to last many seasons.
- The reinforced aluminum rim design extends rim life.
Sturdy Responsive Ride
- A rib inside each spoke adds lateral strength and stiffness to the wheel for enhanced handling and cornering.
- The shock absorbing wheel design helps provide a more comfortable ride.
Less Maintenance, More Convenience
- No ongoing maintenance of the composite wheel is required since the wheel is aligned and permanently interlocked and bonded to the splined hub.
- A robust 4-Pawl hub with sealed cartridge bearings ensure smooth, reliable long life.
- The Carbon Fiber Composite wheel features a gloss black finish
- Distinctive colors are available using advanced High Impact Composite materials and the Molded-In process ensures the colors will not chip
TAG Wheels Warranty and Crash Replacement Program
- 2 year limited warranty against defects in material and workmanship.
- A low cost rim replacement program if the rim is worn or dented.
- A low cost, non warranty, composite wheel replacement program
“Our wheels provide long term value in a classic stylish look,” says Mike Thomas V.P of TAG Wheels. “The wheels are extremely easy to use, offer a great ride, and with MSRP starting at just $429 per set our TR3 wheels are affordable for any rider.”
SPECIFICATIONS
TAG Wheels® will debut the TR3 wheels at Interbike in Las Vegas on Sept 24-26.

I like carbon frames, I’d probably like carbon wheels too. I would imagine them to have less flex that traditional wheels. No?
I owned a set of Spin carbon wheels about a decade ago. They were sweet-looking, smooth rolling and tough-as-nails, but non-disc. I had to ditch them to go to disc brakes. Looks like TAG has taken the Spin mold-design and upped the ante with the reinforced rib and made them disc-ready. They’re a bit heavy on the gram scale for XC riding, but If I could build up my dream enduro bike, I’d hook up a set of TAG carbons for sure.
